Ffxiv How to Get Allagan Tomestones of Poetics

With Final Fantasy 14's Endwalker expansion on the horizon, both new and veteran players will want to prepare so they're ready to go when the expansion is released. Our FFXIV guide helps you collect the best gear, the quests to complete, and other any other steps to prepare for Endwalker.

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will be released on Nov. 23, with early access for players who pre-order Endwalker beginning on Nov. 19. If you pre-order, you'll also get bonus earrings that will boost your EXP gained up to level 80, which is perfect for catching up.

If you're level 80 and you beat Shadowbringers, what else is there to do? Between working on your relic weapon, there are several other things.

Try out the FFXIV: Endwalker benchmark

If you are playing on an older PC, test out the Endwalker benchmark software before you buy. The hardware requirements for Endwalker won't be significantly upgraded from Shadowbringers, but it's worth double checking to make sure your PC can handle the game well.

You can also design your male Viera in the benchmark, if you plan on swapping races when the expansion comes out.

Grab level 70 healing and maiming gear for Sage and Reaper

If you plan on playing either of the new jobs, you'll want gear for them. While unlocking the job will give you a coffer of themed gear, the gear won't be very good.

Grab Augmented Scaevan gear for them from Enna in Rhalgr's Reach, which you can trade Allagan Tomestones of Poetics for.

If you have gil but no tomes, grabbing level 70 Rakshasa crafted gear will work, too.

Finish the main scenario quest

This may seem like a no-brainer, but you'll need to be caught up on all the main scenario quests (MSQ). They'll be labeled if you have any left in the MSQ user interface on your screen. If that doesn't appear, you may need to toggle it in your UI settings.

Nearly all content is locked behind MSQ, whether it's raids or dungeons, so you'll definitely want to be completely caught up.

Complete the Hildibrand side quests

This is optional, but if you like collecting emotes and unlocking all the trials you can, catch up in the silly Hildibrand side quests. No new Hildibrand quests came out during the Shadowbringers expansion era, but more should be coming in Endwalker. To get all the latest stuff, you need to be caught up.

You can start the Hildibrand side quests at Wynmond in Ul'dah - Steps of Nald, if you haven't already.

Grab gear that's item level 500 or higher

Based on patterns from previous expansions, the first dungeon in each expansion requires an item level 30 below the previous expansion's max. Thus, the first dungeon in Endwalker will very likely require you to have gear at item level 500 or higher.

It's best to prepare this before you need it. Here are some easy-to-get armor sets that will help boost you up:

  • Cryptlurker gear from Aymark in Eulmore (520 item level)
  • YoRHA Type-55 gear from The Tower at Paradigm's Breach (520 item level)
  • Edenmete gear from Yhal Yal in Eulmore (510 item level)
  • Exarchic gear from the marketboard or from crafting (510 item level)

You'll very likely be able to grab Augmented Cryptlurker gear (530 item level) easily once Endwalker launches, which brings us to the next point …

Cap out your non-gil currencies

Right before the expansion drops, have the max amount of Allagan Tomestones of Poetics, Allegory, and Revelation.

Based on previous expansions, you will be able to use Allagan Tomestones of Poetics to get Cryptlurker gear, which is a very easy way to boost your item level. (As of this writing, you can only use the slightly harder to get Allagan Tomestones of Revelations to get Cryptlurker equipment.) When Endwalker rolls around, you'll be able to gear up some of your jobs quickly using Poetics. You can only hold 2,000 Poetics at once, but you'll need more than 2,000 to get a complete set.

It's also likely that, once Endwalker gets released, you'll be able to convert your Allegory and Revelation tomes to Poetics at a lower rate, which will be helpful with the above issue.

Complete the Binding Coil of Bahamut and Omega raid series

Story writer Natsuko Ishikawa recommends that players complete two side quest raid series to supplement the Endwalker story: the Binding Coil of Bahamut and Omegascape.

You can start the Binding Coil of Bahamut raid quests from Urianger in The Waking Sands and Omegascape raid quests from Wedge in Rhalgr's Reach.

For the extra mile, pre-prep EXP

If you want to be slightly over-prepared for the expansion, you can pre-prepare EXP to gain so when the level cap increases, you can get ahead. Any of the following will help with this:

  • Completing high-level side quests and waiting to turn them in.
  • Completing a Wondrous Tails book and waiting to turn it in.
  • Logging off in a sanctuary before the update to ensure that you have accumulated rest EXP.
